Safe Space Together: Alexander Technique Teacher Training for the 21st Century

SST is a 3-year AmSAT-approved teacher training program led by Sandra Bain Cushman with the assistance of local and visiting faculty.

The course is located in Sandra’s mountainside studio just north of Charlottesville, Virginia.

The tuition and fee structure of SST is based on the Affordable for Good model of Habitat for Humanity. Tuition free trainings are offered for BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and People of Color). These trainees will be responsible for $85/mo (9 months) in fees to help cover operating expenses. Tuition-paying trainees will be responsible for course tuition of $5,100 per year ($425 per month for 12 months or $1,700 per term for 3 terms per training year).

Sandra’s experience with inclusive non-hierarchical learning has grown over three decades of work with Robert Fripp’s Guitar Craft and Guitar Circles North America, South America and Europe. Her dedication to self-organizing communities and trainee-led pacing while embodying the Technique create a safe—and brave—space for all.
